Our Process

We make a lateral move more likely to happen, and we take the uncertainty out of it for you and the firm.

We do that as your objective advisor, not an interested party.

Why work with us

We work differently.

Run a search on your own, through a friend, or through a recruiter attached to one firm, and every offer arrives with a pitch.

  1. We present you to firms as a group, so you get a straight read on how they compare.
  2. We start from a thesis: every firm is a bundle of benefits and costs. There is no perfect firm, so the real work is choosing a trade-off.
  3. We back the read with data: market signals, compensation benchmarks, and a clear read on your readiness to move.

All of your offers flow through one channel. That exclusivity lets us do two things at once: use each offer to negotiate a stronger one elsewhere, and give you objective, side-by-side advice with no cross-selling and no blind spots.

Most lawyers can't name the trade-off they want at the outset. You find it by seeing real options side by side, on one timeline, not by reasoning in isolation.

How it works

  1. 1. Intake call.

We learn your practice and where you want to take it. You don't need to be committed to leaving. We introduce our thesis early: every firm is a set of trade-offs.

  2. 2. Resume.

We send a guide and you revise your resume. What comes back is usually a placeholder. Your real positioning comes from your representative matters. We build your resume from patterns we see in resumes that land multiple offers, and we turn edits around within 24 hours.

  3. 3. Firm list.

We walk through a broad but strategic list of firms: ones you know, ones known to favor your practice, and a few new to you. The list goes back to you in writing for approval.

  4. 4. Representative matters.

This is the document that lays the foundation for an offer, by showing how you will be helpful. You do that by codifying your experience to show that you understand your clients' ultimate objectives and the high agency you bring to achieving them. The structure is simple: the issue the client faced, how their position improved, and what you personally did to move it. We summarize those for your resume, so you show the judgment firms pay for.

  5. 5. Simultaneous submission.

We submit you to every approved firm at the same time, which holds each of them to one timeline. A lawyer who lands an interview in the first week is very likely to receive an offer.

  6. 6. Interview coaching.

The first round turns on the value you bring to that team and why you want to be there. We coach you to tell clear stories about outcomes you've driven, drawing on the matters you already wrote up. Before each round we hand you a prep packet built for the exact people you'll meet. More on that below.

  7. 7. Offers.

By now you're usually choosing among several. We advise firms on structuring a strong offer: signing bonuses, guaranteed annual bonuses, and the type of work. When you are weighing more than one, we send you a weekly landscape of your offers side by side, so the comparison stays clear. You line the trade-offs up and choose one. When you're choosing among strong offers, we start with your priorities, not the money. We give you a structured way to weigh what actually matters: practice fit and matter mix, mentorship, training and feedback, team structure, client exposure and business development, platform strength, culture, workload and flexibility, leadership stability, path to promotion, and more. Money comes last, on purpose.

  8. 8. Through to your first day.

Accepting is not the end of our work. We stay with you through background and conflicts checks and your start date, so the move lands cleanly. We help with conflicts and background checks, support the timely submission of required materials, resolve delays, and coordinate both sides to confirm a start date. One piece of advice: wait to give notice at your current firm until the new firm has cleared your conflicts and background check.

How we prep you for interviews

Before each interview we build you a prep packet made for the specific people you'll meet. It includes:

  1. For each interviewer, four to five high-level, technical questions to ask, tied to that person's own practice and to your experience. They're written to invite real examples and stories, not yes-or-no answers.
  2. A short overview of each interviewer for quick reference.
  3. A 45 to 60 second elevator pitch you can use across meetings.
  4. Focus topics specific to each interviewer.
  5. A side-by-side comparison of your current firm and the firm you're meeting.
  6. A dedicated contact from our team you can reach on interview day if anything comes up.

After each interview, we debrief with you.

Why it works

A lone offer weighed against nothing is the weakest position to move from.

Several offers on one timeline let you see what each firm gives you, what it costs you, and which trade-off you're willing to make. The trade‑offs are real: more trials but longer hours, headline work but less ownership, first chair or not.

One lawyer last year went through the full process, drew six offers, and chose to stay where she was. We counted it as a win. She had seen the full range of trade-offs the market offered and came away certain that her firm was right for her. We are paid only when a lawyer accepts an offer, so the work earned us nothing. It was still a win for our craft, and for hers.

You don't need to know where you're headed to begin. The process is built so you always have real options to compare.

See what your options are.
